Italian Hurricane is a 20something-year-old Italian girl who has the strength of a hurricane but sometimes finds it hard to feel it. She is fighting mental illness, she loves elephants and her life is currently split between Italy and Brazil. Uh, and she wants to be a writer.

I blog (or better, ramble on…) about my life, my thoughts and mental health. And creativity – and my issues with creativity, which are the reason I started this blog in the first place. I also blog to share my amazing writing talent with you. (just joking!)

When I’m not blogging, I struggle to find my path in life and to find a way to be with my boyfriend. My life is currently split between Italy (where I was born and still live with my family) and Brazil (where my boyfriend was born and still lives with his family, and where I reach him every time I can – I spend about six months per year in Rio de Janeiro).

Also, I’m trying to figure out what I wanna be when I grow up – yes, I said I wanna be a writer, but sometimes I also wanna be a yoga instructor, a human rights advocate, a cook, a free-lance reporter, a photographer…

· I’m a vegetarian – for so many reasons.

· I love traveling.

· I love yoga – it totally changed my life.

· I love elephants. And tigers.

· I have a strong interest in natural products (food, body care, remedies…)

· I love everything that is India-related.

· I have a nose piercing and four tattoos. And I’ll most likely get more.

· I love toerings and anklets.

· I got through the worst panic attacks I have ever heard of and I am currently dealing with depression, so if you have any mental disorder and you want to talk about it, I’m here for you!

Stay awhile, will you? 😉

  2. I can just relate to panic attacks and anxiety and I am glad you found a man who encourages you and pushes you to pursue your passion. Depression-prone people need a partner like that. I will definitely be sticking around to know how your story goes!

  3. Hi Hurricane!

Just as you love everything India-related, I love everything Italy-related! Of course, that’s not the only reason why I followed your blog 🙂 I enjoy reading your posts since I feel like I can relate to a lot of them. Not only that, your passion for writing is intoxicating, since I continue writing and posting for a similar reason as you.

    Happy blogging,

  5. Boh! I literally laughed out loud when I saw this at the top. I love it. I lived in Firenze for a study abroad and miss it every day :(. The fact that you go between so many places is just awesome!

  6. I really like your blog, and I can totally understand you. I have panic disorder and severe anxiety and though I don’t know if I really want to be a writer I also had stories ever since childhood and I was really afraid to show it anyone, and that why I started blogging as well. Something similar with my boyfriend. He lives in the same country but in another town so we often struggle with planning how to spend more time together.
Keep up and be strong! 🙂
    You gained another follower 😉

  7. It is so interesting for me to read this as when I was your age, I had a boyfriend in Sao Paulo… The relationship lasted a long time and we had a great time together. I adore Brazil. And I have amazing memories.

  8. Hi, you have a lovely blog here. I liked your blog’s name and how you love everything India related (me being an Indian 🙂 ). Meditating is great, it will help you in your life is so many ways.
Keep blogging and I am looking forward to read. 🙂

  9. Hey Maria I picked Cass to win ‘The Rita B Blogger Award’ but for those who didn’t win I decided I would write them all each a story to prove they are a winner too and special too and special to me. The first girl I wrote about was you. I call the short story ‘The Italian Hurricane’ a fitting title. You can find it at http://www.curleymania.wordpress.com. Enjoy!

  10. “I love everything that is India-related.”

If you go to India you might be able to see elephants AND tigers in the same trip. Better yet, you can look for tigers while riding on an elephant! I’ve never been to India, but I once watched a nature show where a guy did that. I’m sure they don’t give TV hosts any special privileges that they wouldn’t offer to normal folk.

            1. That’s a good question… I am afraid I don’t travel enough and so I don’t post enough… And that I don’t really know how to write travel articles… In two weeks I’m going to Morocco and I hope I will write something good and start with that, in the meanwhile I’m thinking of a good travel-blog name… 🙂

              1. You’re going to Morocco? That’s awesome!

If you don’t travel enough, how would you feel about posting your travel articles on this blog? That would allow you to write about your travels when you can, and post about other stuff when you can’t.

Concerning the writing travel articles bit, reading other people’s travel-related posts might help give you a better sense of what’s involved. Of course it’ll be best if you tailor your approach to fit your personality, but reading other travel blogs might help give you a better sense of the format. Here’s my favorite travel blog: http://travelingspaceopera.com/

I hope this helps give you some ideas 🙂

                1. You are right. I have been reading a lot of them, but when it comes to writing mine I get a block… I am actually going through a very stressful time, maybe when the stress is gone it will automatically become easier. 🙂
